The city is considering forming a storm water utility in La Crosse and they want the public to weigh in.
The city engineer's office says they want to inform residents about the benefits of a utility and want to hear public feedback.
They say a storm water utility would provide a more fair way to charge residents for storm water services and it would also provide incentives for people to change their landscape to reduce storm water.
They say residential properties would benefit the most. Asst. City Engineer Bernard Lenz says, "right now residential properties in the city fund 57 percent of the storm water with taxes but they only produce 28 percent of the actual water, under storm water utility you would pay for what your produce so the residential properties would only being paying for 28 percent."
There will be a meeting Wednesday night at Roosevelt Elementary School in La Crosse starting at 7pm.
