A Minnesota state senator is making a push for Capitol Hill.
Dick Day must win the primary in September against fellow Republican Brian Davis in order to challenge incumbent Tim Walz, D-Mankato, in the 1st Congressional District.
In a visit to Southeastern Minnesota Thursday, Day said his 25 years of experience in politics makes him a good candidate, and he wants to make his campaign about the issues.
"Everybody that I talked to says just run a good clean straight forward, talk issues not about your opponent. I'm trying to do that. We'll see how that all works," Day said.
Day says the big issues voters want to talk about these days are gas prices and the economy.
