WKBT La Crosse, WI-NewsChannel 8-Foundation Gives Extra Money to Help La Crosse Schools

Creativity and new innovative ideas. That's what will be flowing through the La Crosse School District classrooms, thanks to some extra funding.
The La Crosse Public Education Foundation handed out more than $60,000 in awards Monday to the La Crosse School District. More than $20,000 of the money will be given to teachers to use for new and creative projects.
Money will also be used for a staff development project and to help children in need within the schools. Foundation officials say without this grant funding, many of these projects wouldn't be possible. "Budgets are tight right now. So, what we do is, we really fill the gap between tight budgets and the unmet needs of the classroom teachers," says Geva Thole, from the La Crosse Public Education Foundation.
This year, the La Crosse Public Education Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary. In honor of that, the foundation donated an extra $20,000 to each of the schools in the district to use for any needs they may have.
