The Rivoli Theater in La Crosse will be showing the Packer's playoff game on Saturday, even though the NFL is arguing that showing the game on a movie screen violates copyright law.
The NFL says watching a game in a theater is much different than at a sports bar. It has sent cease and desist letters to theaters and even churches, warning them of the potential copyright violation.
The president of the La Crosse Theaters Company, which is the parent company of the Rivoli, says they did not receive a letter from the NFL. Their contract with Dish Network does not restrict the number of people in attendance or the size of the screen.
He says if there are any problems after showing the game, they will have Dish Network deal with the NFL.
