A Pacific storm was expected to continue moving through the Northwest on Friday. The system was forecast to provide widespread rain and high-elevation snow from the coast of Washington and Oregon through the Intermountain West.
Winter weather advisories were posted throughout the region.
The cold front associated with the storm was expected to slowly sag southward into Northern California. Rain and high-elevation snow were forecast as far south as the San Francisco Bay Area with additional showers expected in the Great Basin.
Meanwhile, cold air was expected to continue to flow into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Cold air moving across the relatively warm water of the Great Lakes could produce lake-effect snow in Michigan and parts of western New York.
Cold air moving into New England from the west was expected to create scattered snow showers in the region.
To the south, a developing low pressure system was expected to move across theFlorida Panhandle and produce heavy rain in northern Florida and possibly along the Southeast Coast.
Temperatures in the Northeast were expected to rise into the 20s and 30s, and the Southeast could see temperatures in the 40s and 50s. The Northern Plains were expected to see temperatures hover around zero or reach into the teens, while 30s and 40s were expected in the Northwest.
On Thursday, temperatures in the Lower 48 states ranged from a low of negative 13 degrees at Kremmling, Colo., to a high of 82 degrees at Boca Raton, Fla.
