UPDATE: Minnesota City girl dies after falling from truck

A 15-year-old Minnesota City girl is dead after falling out of a pickup truck in Winona early Saturday morning.

Winona Police Chief Paul Bostrack says the girl, whose name has not been released, either fell, or jumped out of the backseat of the pickup that was going 20-30 miles per hour near the intersection of Broadway and Washington Streets just after 5:00 a.m. Saturday.

An ambulance from Winona Area Ambulance Service saw the girl on the road tended to her at the scene.

The girl was transported to Community Memorial Hospital in Winona and was later airlifted to Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse with head injuries and major blood loss. She was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The driver of the pickup, a 46-year-old man from Minnesota City, is a friend of the girl's family, Bostrack says.

No charges have been filed, but Bostrack says the investigation is ongoing.

A 15-year-old Minnesota City girl is in critical condition at Gundersen Lutheran hospital after falling out of a pick up truck in Winona.

The Winona Police Department says the incident happened around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning.

A 46-year-old Winona man was driving the truck through the intersection of Broadway and Winona Streets when the girl fell out of the vehicle.

Officers say it's still unclear whether the girl jumped out of the truck or fell out of the truck.

According to Winona police the girl is in very critical condition with head injuries and major blood loss.
