ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping a teenage girl who was riding a bicycle on the Lake Wobegon Regional Trail near Melrose last summer.
Benjamin Delacruz Ajqui (del-uh-krooz ah-KEE') previously pleaded guilty in Stearns County District Court to first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He admitted forcing the 14-year-old girl off her bike as she was riding alone on the trail last July.
Judge Thomas Knapp also ordered Ajqui on Monday to pay money to repair the girl's bicycle. Ajqui will be on supervised release after his prison term.
Sheriff's officials say Ajqui was in the country illegally. He also could be deported once he's served his prison sentence.
