
Brent WilkinsonA Tomah man is in custody and is under investigation after his wife dies of an apparent gunshot wound.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Department says emergency dispatchers received a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the township of Grant Wednesday at 10:53 p.m.
Sheriff Dennis Pedersen says rescue crews found 37-year-old Theresa Wilkinson with a gunshot wound. Wilkinson was taken to Tomah Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Wilkinson husband, 37-year-old Brent Wilkinson, left the home before authorities arrived at the home. He was later found and arrested by the Tomah Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol at 12:07 a.m. Thursday in the city of Tomah.
Brent Wilkinson is being held in the Monroe County Jail on first-degree while the incident is being investigated.
An autopsy is scheduled on Theresa Wilkinson in Madison today. Wilkinson is expected to appear in Monroe County Court Friday afternoon.
According to court documents, Brent and Theresa Wilkinson were going through divorce proceedings in Monroe County.
