Even though most people aren't fans of the rain one La Crosse organization is using it to make a difference.
The Washburn Neighborhood Association and Green La Crosse wrapped up their rain barrel painting competition Sunday at the La Crosse public library.
Eleven area artists participated in the competition and their artwork was auctioned off to raise money for the neighborhood.
Organizers say they're pleased with the response they've received so far.
Randy Magno says, "We weren't sure how big of a turnout we would have, we were wonderfully happy with the barrels, the barrels are wonderful, all of our artists did a wonderful job."
Magno also says they have orders for over 200 barrels so far.
If you want to get involved or just want to purchase a barrel, you can find the information on the website www.greenlacrosse.com.
