Warm Weather Helps Local Flower Shops

Posted: Updated:

With days like Saturday everyone is starting to get spring fever and local flower shops are starting to benefit.

Flower shops routinely see their sales starting to increase in March as spring arrives.

This year, many florists are anticipating an increase in vegetable seed sales because more people are growing their own food in this tough economy.

Florists say regardless of the reasons, gardening can have many benefits.

"It's not only healthy, it's a great thing to do with your kids, and almost anyone can do it," says Linda Zoerb, president of La Crosse Floral. "Even if you live in an apartment, you can do some things in containers. "

Zoerb adds that's not quite time to start planting, but now is the best time to get prepared, plan out your garden and to stock up on what you need.
